Tremor is involuntary contraction or twitching movement of body parts.
Hands, arms, eyes, face, head, vocal folds, trunk, and legs are affected.
we all know that hands are affected most.
Speaking of types there are more than 20 types of tremors are seen.
As a medico we must know atleast the following types.
1. Resting tremor - Parkinsons disease ( when i hear the word tremor my mind immediately thinks of parkinsons. I think your mind too ;) It is also called as pill rolling tremor. It occurs during rest.
2.Intention tremor - Cerebellar dysfunction.It occurs during when patient initiates movements eg. finger nose touch.
3.Holmes’ tremor - Cerebellar damage can also produce a “wing-beating” type of tremor. see this video anti gravity movement produces tremor.

5. Rubral tremor - huh ?? rubral denotes red nucleus in our subject.So it is due to red nucleus lesions. Most commonly due to stroke.

6.Physiologic tremor - fear ( during exams or viva ) cold ( winter - chattering of teeth ) hypoglycemia ( standing in ward for long time without taking breakfast )
7.Essential tremors - our grandparents have some sort of tremors usually head yes-yes motion or no-no motion.
8.Orthostatic tremor - When they standup , they find difficulty to stand stable. If they sit it will disappear. It is a part of essential tremor.
